SARNIA – A familiar face is back in the fold for the fall.
Forward Jordyn Britton will be returning to the Lambton Women’s Basketball Program for the 2025-26 season, joining a talented recruiting class put together by Head Coach Janine Day.
“I’m happy to be back at Lambton,” said Britton. “I had a lot of fun here during my two years with the team and made a lot of memories, so I’m looking forward to wearing a Lions jersey again and being part of the team.”
Britton, a six-foot forward from Thorold, was initially a walk-on with the Women’s Basketball Program prior to the 2022-23 season. She attended the team’s open tryouts in September of that year and quickly impressed coaches with her positive attitude and impressive work ethic, earning a spot on the roster in the process.
Over her two years, Britton became a key member of the Lions program, helping them win a pair of OCAA medals and a national silver medal in the process. In 2022-23, Britton and the Lions brought home an OCAA Silver Medal at the 2023 OCAA Championships in Welland. Hosted by Niagara College. Then, the next year, the Lions won the OCAA Championship on home court and went on to bring home a CCAA Silver Medal at the 2024 CCAA Women’s Basketball National Championships in Lloydminster, Alberta.
For Coach Day, she is looking forward to having Britton back in the mix for the upcoming season.
“We are thrilled to have Jordyn return to our team for the upcoming season,” said Day. “As a member of the Silver and Gold OCAA teams, she brings both experience and leadership.”
“On the court, she will have an immediate impact in our post play on both ends of the court. Jordyn’s presence as a senior leader will be key for this year’s team.”
Britton is the sixth member of the incoming 2025 class of recruits for Day. Britton joins the likes of Alexis Hinds (Stratford, Ont.), Ava Grant (Marysville, Mich.), Lillian Bernard (Sarnia, Ont.), Malina Lopez (Milton, Ont.), and Keianna Cambridge (Burlington, Ont.) as part of the incoming class ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
Academically, Britton will be enrolled in the Paramedic Program mat Lambton College after previously graduating from the Fire Science Technology Program following the 2023-24 season.
Britton and the Lions open the 2025-26 season on Friday, October 24th at home against the Redeemer Royals. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. inside the Cestar Group Athletics & Fitness Complex.
Back in the 2022-23 season, Britton made her OCAA debut on October 22nd on the road against the Royals, playing 10 minutes and scoring the first three points of her collegiate career in the Lions’ 94-48 win.
