Women’s Basketball Kicks Off 2026 Recruiting Class with Commitment from Stoney Creek Guard Grace MacDonald

SARNIA – Bolstered the back court rotation for the future.

Guard Grace MacDonald has officially committed to Head Coach Janine Day and the Lambton Women’s Basketball Program for the 2026-27 season, and beyond.

MacDonald is the first commitment for Coach Day and the Lions in the 2026 recruiting class.

“We are thrilled to have Grace in a Lions uniform in the fall,” said Day. “Grace is a versatile player who will create problems for opponents on both ends of the court.”

“Her exceptional perimeter shooting and length on the defensive end will deepen our roster. Grace’s passion for the game is another strength that we value at Lambton College. She joins the Lions with a wealth of basketball knowledge, having played for both St. John Henry Newman and Hamilton JUEL programs.”

MacDonald, a five-foot-nine guard, comes to Lambton College by way of St. John Henry Newman Catholic Secondary School in Stoney Creek. MacDonald and the Cardinals advanced to the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board (HWCDSB) Championship Game, but they came out on the wrong end of a 39-38 decision to Bishop Tonnos.

In addition to playing for the Cardinals, MacDonald plays for the Hamilton Yellow Jackets JUEL program.

Now, as she prepares for her first collegiate season in September, MacDonald is looking forward to the opportunities that lie ahead for her in Sarnia-Lambton.

“I’m very excited for this opportunity,” said MacDonald after making her collegiate decision official inside the Cestar Group Athletics & Fitness Complex. “I love the game of basketball, and I think Lambton College is the perfect fit for me.”

“I’m excited to get out of my comfort zone and experience all the new things, like playing for new coaches and playing with a new team, while also learning more about myself as a person and as a player.”

Academically, MacDonald will be enrolled in the Police Foundations Program at Lambton College.

MacDonald’s commitment for the 2026-27 season comes on the heels of a pair of second-half additions for the program earlier this week ahead of the stretch run this season. Wings Aaliyah Johnson and Naila Osias will join the Lions in January for the second half of the 2025-26 season, and will both be joined by MacDonald in a Lambton uniform in the fall when next season gets underway.

Welcome to The Den, Grace!
