Regina Mundi Wing Emmanuel Onyekwere Commits to Lambton Men’s Basketball Program for 2025-26 Season

SARNIA – Another Titan from the Forest City is on his way to Sarnia.

Wing Emmanuel Onyekwere has officially committed to Head Coach James Grant and the Lambton Men’s Basketball Program for the 2025-26 season, and beyond.

Onyekwere joins a star-studded recruiting class for Grant and company as the program continues to load up with talent ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. Onyekwere joins a talent-rich group of incoming recruits that features names like Blake Redfern (Mitchell, Ont.), Liam Tosh (Brantford, Ont.), Traivon Hayes (Brantford, Ont.), Billy Van Boxtel (London, Ont.), Kadin Cantrell (Port Huron, Mich.), Mekhi Wilson (Burlington, Ont.), Milos Lukac (Hamilton, Ont.), Matthew Kment (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.), Mike Decius (Hamilton, Ont.), Jack Small (Mitchell, Ont.), Jack Vozza (Sarnia, Ont.), and Jayden Scott (Brampton, Ont.).

“We are incredibly excited that Emmanuel decided to join our squad,” said Grant. “He sent his game film in mid-summer, and we were quick to set up a workout down here at LC.”

“Emmanuel showed high-end athleticism, and he really reminded us of a lot like the way Evander Doxilly plays the game – rebounds, hustles, and gets loose balls.”

Onyekwere, a six-foot-five wing, comes to Lambton College by way of Regina Mundi Catholic High School in London. He played for the Titans senior boys basketball program this past season, helping RMC advance to the ‘AA’ OFSAA Championships in North Bay.

Onyekwere and the Titans went 7-0 in regular season play before winning a TVRAA title with a 66-62 win over Van Boxtel and the John Paul II Jaguars. From there, they would go onto win the WOSSAA Senior Boys AA Basketball Championship with a 74-51 win over St. Joseph’s, securing their spot at the OFSAA Championships.

He is the latest name in a growing list of players from the Forest City to make their way west and join the Lions.

The last Titans alum that joined the Lions on the hardwood was a four-year member of the program, and he developed into a regular fixture in the starting lineup while becoming a fan favourite. Byanungu Ngakira, who was affectionately known as B-Man, graduated from Lambton College following the 2023-24 season.

Onyekwere, who is known as E-Man to many, will look to follow suit and put together a standout career in a Lions uniform.

“I’m happy,” said Onyekwere. “I’m ready to come here and hoop, and show people who I am.”

“Sarnia is a smaller city, so I feel like I can focus on basketball and my craft a bit more, working to perfect it. I can get to the rim, and I can use my shot to stretch the floor on offense.”

Academically, Onyekwere will be enrolled in the Electrical Engineering Technician – Power Distribution & Control Program at Lambton College.

Welcome to The Den, Emmanuel!
