Vaughan Guard Aaron Aikoroje Commits to Lambton Men’s Basketball Program for 2026-27 Season

SARNIA – Bolstering the back court rotation in a big way.

Guard Aaron Aikoroje has officially committed to Head Coach James Grant and the Lambton Men’s Basketball Program for the 2026-27 season, and beyond.

Aikoroje is the fourth member of the 2026 recruiting class for Coach Grant and company. Aikoroje joins a talented incoming crop of recruits that also features the likes of wing Oshane Campbell (Chatham, Ont.), forward Isaac Mackey (Strathroy, Ont.), and guard Romane Graham (Whitby, Ont.).

“I’m really excited,” said Aikoroje. “Coach Grant gave me this opportunity and trusted me, and I’m really thankful for him and for trusting me in this (recruiting) process.”

“I’m looking forward to having a productive season next year with the team and getting to know the guys. I’m also looking forward to having a big summer in preparation for next year.”

Aikoroje, a six-foot-five guard, comes to Lambton College from Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School in Etobicoke. The Vaughan native plays under Head Coach Paul Melnik with the Crusaders.

This past season in the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association (OSBA), Aikoroje and company went 19-1 to finish atop the Central Division standings. The Crusaders went on to win the Trillium Men’s Bracket, knocking off Tall Pines Academy in the Championship Game, 79-73.

Outside of high school, Aikoroje plays with Vanguard North Basketball.

Coach Grant is looking forward to adding Aikoroje to the mix in the fall, citing his versatility and size as two big assets for the program.

“Aaron is a big addition to the team,” said Grant. “He is the type of player that could be used in multiple roles as we look to figure out how things will look next season.”

“He is also a very high IQ type of player that will have the ability to make strong on-court decisions for us.”

Aikoroje spoke similarly about his game when he was asked about what Lambton fans can expect to see from him on the court, mentioning his trust in his teammates, his high IQ on the court, and his positive energy on both ends of the floor as three key strengths in his game.

On top of playing basketball at the collegiate level, Aikoroje is looking forward to the opportunities that lie ahead for him in life as he prepares to make the move to Sarnia in the fall.

“This will be the first time that I’m living away from home,” added Aikoroje. “A big thing is going to be learning new things, not just about basketball, but living in general and being responsible, staying organized, and making your own decisions.”

Aikoroje joins a Lambton program that’s expected to return the bulk of their 2025-26 roster, one that finished the regular season with a 10-8 record, good for fourth in the always-competitive West Division.

The addition of Aikoroje to the back court rotation will help to bolster an already talented crop of guards, adding depth on both sides of the ball for years to come.

Welcome to The Den, Aaron!
