SARNIA – Another grizzly is making his way to The Den.
Point guard Jayden Scott has officially committed to Head Coach James Grant and the Lambton Men’s Basketball Program for the 2025-26 season, and beyond.
Scott is the 12th member of a talented 2025 recruiting class for Grant and the rest of his coaching staff as the program continues to reload with talent ahead of the 2025-26 season. Scott joins a talent-laden group of recruits that also features Blake Redfern (Mitchell, Ont.), Liam Tosh (Brantford, Ont.), Traivon Hayes (Brantford, Ont.), Billy Van Boxtel (London, Ont.), Kadin Cantrell (Port Huron, Mich.), Mekhi Wilson (Burlington, Ont.), Milos Lukac (Hamilton, Ont.), Matthew Kment (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.), Mike Decius (Hamilton, Ont.), Jack Small (Mitchell, Ont.), and Jack Vozza (Sarnia, Ont.).
“Jayden is a player that we saw quite a bit of last recruiting campaign as he was in a starting tandem with AJ Edwards,” said Grant. “They had great chemistry at David Suzuki, as well as being players for a great coach.”
“Jayden made the trip to Sarnia and fit in well with our team. We are really looking forward to welcoming to the Lions this fall.”
Scott, a six-foot point guard from Brampton, comes to Lambton College by way of David Suzuki Secondary School, where he played for the Grizzlies Senior Boys Basketball Program.
With the Lions, Scott will be reunited with former Grizzlies teammate AJ Edwards, who committed to Lambton College prior to the 2024-25 season for both Men’s Basketball and Men’s Baseball. The pair had great chemistry when they shared the court for the Grizzlies, and they hope to replicate that when they take to the court in a Lions uniform at the same time this season.
Scott made his commitment official at his high school with family, friends, and teammates alike in attendance to celebrate his accomplishments. The moment wasn’t lost on Scott, but he’s also looking forward to starting the next chapter of his journey in September at Lambton College.
“I feel really appreciated,” said Scott after making his commitment official. “Having friends and family that care about you so much that they’ll come to your signing (day), it makes me feel good.”
“I’m looking forward to a fresh start (in Sarnia) and just moving onto the next chapter of my life in school, basketball … everything. I’m excited to get farther in life.”
Academically, Scott will be enrolled in the Sports & Recreation Management Program at Lambton College.
When he was asked what Lambton fans can expect to see him from him on the floor, Scott started his answer with the typical responses of winning, hustle plays, and effort.
He then ended his answer with a one-liner that is a precursor for what’s to come when he puts on a Lambton uniform for the first time this fall.
You guys are going to enjoy this.
Welcome to The Den, Jayden!
