Courtright Infielder Sommer Dalgety Commits to Lambton Women’s Softball Program for 2026 Season

Courtright Infielder Sommer Dalgety Commits to Lambton Women’s Softball Program for 2026 Season

SARNIA – Another Golden Eagles alum is heading to The Den.

Infielder Sommer Dalgety has officially committed to Head Coach Richard Helps and the Lambton Women’s Softball Program for the 2026 season, and beyond.

Dalgety is the third member of the 2026 recruiting class for Helps and the rest of the Lions coaching staff. Dalgety will join catcher America Shepherd (Delhi, Ont.) and center fielder Tyleigh Winger (Sarnia, Ont.) as a newcomer with the Lions in the fall when the 2026 season opens.

“I’m ready to get this ball rolling,” said Dalgety after making her commitment official with friends and family in attendance. “I’ve been dreaming about this since I was little, so I’m excited.”

“I’m excited to come in, meet the full team, and just get started.”

Dalgety, a five-foot-two infielder, comes to Lambton College by way of Great Lakes Secondary School in Sarnia. Outside of high school, Dalgety plays for the Chatham Golden Eagles U19 program.

Dalgety will join a handful of current and former Golden Eagles players with the Lions, including Lilly Klompstra, Tanner Hibma-Powell, and Kaelynn Campbell. Add in her familiarity with several other current Lions that are on the roster, the transition to the OCAA should be a smooth one for Dalgety when it comes to meshing with the team.

On the field, Dalgety brings versatility to the infield rotation with her ability to play at both second base and third base, adding depth to a pair of key positions for the program moving forward.

For Helps, Dalgety’s versatility in the infield and her ability to get on-base at the plate will be welcome additions to the program, both this season and into the future.

“We’re excited to add a player like Sommer to our program,” said Helps. “Defensively, her ability to play at two key positions in the infield gives us options for our lineup.”

“Offensively, Sommer can get on base which will hopefully help us generate more offense.”

Academically, Dalgety will be enrolled in the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas & Degrees Program at Lambton College.

Dalgety is no stranger to the Lambton Women’s Softball Program. Aside from playing with a few current Lions and knowing a handful of others, Dalgety was in attendance at many of the team’s home games last season at Tecumseh Park. She knows what the program is about, and she is looking forward to stepping in and contributing in any way she can to help the team be successful.

“I’ll bring lots of energy (to the field),” added Dalgety, when asked what fans can expect to see from her on the diamond this season. “Just being there for my teammates, picking them up, and helping the team in any way that I can.”

Welcome to The Den, Sommer!
