SARNIA – Another lefty is joining The Den.
Brock Lane has officially committed to Head Coach Al Bezaire and the Lambton Men’s Baseball Program for the 2026 season, and beyond.
Lane is the seventh member of a talented incoming class of recruits for Bezaire and company on the diamond. Lane joins a 2026 recruiting class that features the likes of Braydon Mann (Strathroy, Ont.), Ryan Hubbard (Mitchell, Ont.), Nolan Grimes (Strathroy, Ont.), Kyle Peterson (Whitby, Ont.), Parker Needham (Wyoming, Ont.), and Dylan Salter (Granton, Ont.).
“I’m extremely honoured to do it here with Caleb (Rosseel),” said Lane, after making his college commitment official alongside fellow commit Caleb Rosseel. “Doing it with my family here, as well, was great.”
“I’m looking forward to facing some harder competition and just hanging out with the boys on the road trips. I can’t wait to get started.”
Lane, a five-foot-eleven pitcher and outfielder from Port Lambton, comes to Lambton College by way of Wallaceburg District Secondary School, becoming the latest Tartan alum to don Lambton blue at the post-secondary level.
Lane currently plays for the Port Lambton Pirates 18U program, where he serves primarily as a left-handed pitcher on the mound but also plays in the outfield and the occasional game in the infield.
Bezaire, who hails from Port Lambton himself, is no stranger to the Port Lambton program. The Lions have featured several Pirates on their roster over the years, and Bezaire is heavily involved with the program in his own right. He’s looking forward to adding Lane to the program, and securing another lefty for the rotation was something high on his list for the future of the program.
“We have been looking for a left-handed pitcher to come in and win a spot in the rotation for a couple of years now and we think Brock can be that guy,” said Bezaire. “He is especially tough on left-handed hitters and hope we are able to leverage that against left-handed hitting lineups this season.”
“The plan will be for him to focus on pitching this season, but he also has that versatility we always love with the ability to hit, play some outfield and first base in the seasons to come.”
Outside of baseball, Lane also plays junior hockey as a goaltender. Last season, Lane played for the Komoka Kings in the Greater Ontario Hockey League.
Academically, Lane will be enrolled in the Mechanical Techniques – Plumbing Program at Lambton College.
Lane joins a Lions program that is coming off a 2025 season that saw the program bring home its second consecutive medal at the OCAA Championships. The Lions posted a 12-6 record in the regular season, winning the regular season title for the first time in the program’s brief history.
They were the 2025 OCAA Bronze Medalists, and the 2024 OCAA Silver Medalists.
Heading into 2026, the bulk of their roster is expected to return for another run at an OCAA Championship. The addition of Lane on the mound gives the Lions another strong and reliable arm, and one that throws from the left side, giving the team some versatility on the mound when it comes to matchups with opposing hitters.
Welcome to The Den, Brock!
