The Lambton College women's basketball team played their final game of the season on Saturday and hononured a former player and three graduating Lions prior to tip-off. The game also marked the last varsity matchup in our present gymnasium.
Kathy Arcuri was recognized for her past contributions to the program. John Faragher presented Kathy with a piece of the original gym floor which was replaced earlier this year.
A native of Sarnia, Arcuri is the second all-time Lambton College scoring leader and all-time leader in games played for women's basketball.
Arcuri led the Lions to an OCAA Division II championship in the 1980-81 season. The following year, the team competed in the provincial championships where Arcuri was named a championship all-star for her stellar play on the court. For these achievements and outstanding athletic ability, Arcuri was named Female Athlete of the Year.
Maddi Basso, Sarah Bate and Jordi Pisiak were all recognized for their careers as Lambton College Lions.
Basso, a Sarnia native, has scored 157 points over three seasons with the Lions while also pulling down nearly 100 rebounds.
Bate, also a Sarnia native, has scored 148 points for Lambton and is nearing the 100 rebound plateau as well with one game left to play.
Pisiak, from Penticton, BC, has played three seasons at Lambton and has put up 35 points and 30 rebounds during her time as a Lion.
Thank you for your hard work and dedication Maddi, Sarah and Jordi!
