For the third time in the past four years, the Lambton College men's basketball team is off to the OCAA Championships thanks to an 83-74 win over the Centennial College Colts tonight in Toronto.
Jaquan Barrett-Smith (pictured) led Lambton with 19 points while fifth year guard Branden Padgett scored 18. Xavian Edwards dominated the boards for Lambton as he pulled down 14 to go with six points. Tyvel Peters and Jason Watts each had 11, Bruno Pande nine, Jason Marshell five, and Journee Joseph four.
The Lions also defeated the Colts on the way to the 2014-15 Championships with a 97-70 win in the same Centennial gym.
"We couldn't have asked anything more of our young team this year than what they've given on the court," says Coach Grant. "It's a great accomplishment for Branden and Jason to get back to the Tournament and for this group of freshman to get the experience so early in their collegiate careers."
Lambton will travel to Niagara College for the Championships as the eight best collegiate teams in Ontario converge on Welland.
The Lions will face Redeemer at 1pm on Thursday, March 1st.
