Lambton College Recognizes Athletes at Annual Banquet

Lambton College Recognizes Athletes at Annual Banquet

The Lambton Lions celebrated another year of collegiate sport at the 2018 Athletics Awards Banquet held in the Grand Ballroom of the Lambton College Event Centre.

Varsity team awards, OCAA League Awards, OCAA All-Academic Awards, The Tracy Parnham Outstanding Athletic Achievement Award, Fire Science Award, and major College awards such as Varsity Athlete of the Year were presented as part of the evening. Over forty student-athletes who dedicated their time and energy into a number of athletic pursuits over the past year were honoured

Lambton fielded varsity teams in men's basketball, women's basketball, men's soccer, and women's soccer, as well as a competitive Firefit Team. A number of intramural sports were also offered.

The men's basketball team had a competitive campaign as they advanced to the OCAA Championships behind the veteran play of Male Varsity Athlete of the Year Branden Padgett. It was the team's second best season in terms of wins and losses at 21-12 (13-7 OCAA) with only the bronze medal team of 2016 fairing better in the tough OCAA West. Padgett broke the all-time Lambton scoring record held by Mike Lucier with a three pointer at Conestoga College on January 30th. He finished his career with 1,598 points which is good enough for 7th all-time in Ontario history. He was named a 1st Team OCAA All-Star and also took home an OCAA Athlete of the Week nod this fall.

Madisyn Campbell had another strong year on the hardwood and took home Female Athlete of the Year honours. The forward averaged a team leading 13.3 points per game which included three games of 20 points or more. She finished the season in the top-10 of Ontario in minutes played, free throws made and free throw percentage. Campbell was also 14th in offensive rebounds and 25th in assists.

The following is a complete list of this year's recipients.
